Comic Relief

Comic Relief is a major biennial charity event in the UK, its purpose concerns raising money to transform lives of people from areas with massive levels of deprivation in the UK, Africa and across the world.

Through the power of entertainment and influence of the Comic Relief brand, this not-for-profit charity organisation aims at building positive change and raise awareness about worldwide subjects that need special and serious attention. The approach is made within the frame of two main important fundraising campaigns, Red Nose Day and Sport Relief.

The renowned and successful charitable organisation was founded in 1985 and since then has raised over £950 million to support and help unfortunate people overcome their ongoing problems.

The highlight of Comic Relief's appeal is Red Nose Day is Comic Relief's flagship event and at the same time a biennial telethon held in March, alternating years with sister project Sport Relief, a bound initiative of Comic Relief and BBC Sport.

Fundraisers are at the heart of Sport Relief, from sponsors who have also contributed with gifts, people in the entertainment and sport industries, to average folk at home, work and school.

Red Nose Day concentrates on multiple activities. For instance, you can paint your face in a funny way, wear a fake moustache, shave some facial hair, basically do anything creative with your face to raise cash to make a difference in other people's lives.

Other things people who want to participate in the fundraising are bake sales, fancy dress sports matches, talent shows, sporting challenges, selling a service, danceathons, sponsored wax and so much more.

Regardless of the activity, Comic Relief provides handy tools and free kits as means for each and every idea to be carried out. The aim is raising amounts of cash that will have an impact in the targeted countries by improving lives. As funds are collected in-person, we're talking about making an effort starting at an individual level for a higher, global benefit.

The organisation undertakes huge responsibility and follows a flexible and reactive funding strategy as it deals with the population's money resulted from donations and fundraisers, every single gathered pound being invested in thousands of charitable projects.

The charity does not only strive to touch up the major surface problems that people in these countries are struggling with, but through its work it also has a vision of creating sustainable change by raising awareness around the current situation, fight against social injustice and eliminate the root causes of poverty.

Better Futures, Healthier Finances, Safer Lives, Stronger Communities, Fairer Society. These are the five themes that Comic Relief wants to reach with fundraising within the United Kingdom.

Proposals from organisations of diverse projects, especially those which have a sport theme at base, are welcome, as they are intended to bring a breath of fresh air in the lives of those who face disadvantage in the poorest of communities. Registered charities, non-profit organisations, new or small unregistered not-for-profit groups that have a constitution are allowed to apply.

Organisations based in all of UK's four countries, also including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, are free to select whatever approaches they feel are most effective, and the UK grants team supports them, guided by best practice principles of fundraising.

In over 25 years of collaborating with some remarkable people, Comic Relief has triumphed many times in its aspiration to tackle unfavorable and deficient lifestyle issues.

Maintaining a positive, result-driven, engaged, understanding attitude, this charity organisation has generated a total of over £1 billion at the Red Nose Day appeal on 13th of March 2015, reaching a landmark moment in its history.
